After completing several chefs’ courses and working in a variety of restaurants, sisters Zainab and Faatimah Paruk decided to start something unique, resulting in the birth of Chilli Chocolate Chefs in 2010.This family owned catering company is now making waves in the Durban culinary scene.
The company offers a wide spectrum of catering services, food demonstrations at schools and outdoor venues, training courses, in-home fine dining, fusion cuisine, desserts, candy and confectionary displays for special events. Their ‘Mini Masterchef’ activities are also a huge hit for kids’ parties.
Like many other fast growing businesses, Chilli Chocolate Chefs was also part of the Legends Programme, and the combination of mentoring support, workshops, e-learning and media and PR assistance has seen them featured in the Natal Witness, several online platforms and the front page of the food and wine section of the Natal Mercury. They are regularly featured in their local Lifestyle magazine, online and on radio, and have a hectic schedule of catering, food demo’s and interviews.
Amongst other things, the Legends team taught us how to manage our payment systems and reduce debt. At one stage we accumulated debts of over R15000 and currently we are debt free, without a doubt being a part of Legends helped us transform Chilli Chocolate Chefs into a more organised, professional, confident and passionate business.
